Mike Jones - MBACP Integrative Counsellor
3 East Hill
My name is Mike Jones and I'm a BACP qualified integrative counsellor working in Colchester, Essex.
I understand that deciding to see a counsellor and then making a choice to see a particular person can be a daunting process. I hope these few questions and answers might help ease some of those worries. I'd be very happy to answer any questions personally if you would like to get in contact with me.
What can I expect?
My approach gives you the opportunity to talk about any difficulties or distress in your life. You might come to counselling with any number of problems and things that are affecting your life and the way you are feeling. Counselling will give you a place of safety and confidentiality where you can be seen and heard.
How does counselling work?
I work using a person-centred approach which stresses the need to build warm, genuine and understanding relationships in all areas of our lives. It is such qualities that I bring to the counselling room.
I work in an integrative manner, which means that I draw on other different ways of counselling, such as CBT, Gestalt, Existential and Psychodynamic theory, in order to find a way of working that will best suit your needs.
Will you be the right counsellor for me?
I work with a wide variety of adult clients, with different backgrounds, gender, or ethnicities and with whatever issue or problem they might want to bring to the counselling room.
To make the counselling experience as accessible and comfortable as possible for all my clients I am very aware of the difficulties people can face when seeking support and help.
From personal experience I am aware that it can be difficult to seek support because of your role as a professional in a workplace, or as the member of a family or organisation.
I will be able to provide you with a safe and confidential place to talk about any of your concerns and anxieties about your life and its challenges, and through working together, enable you to come to your own understanding and draw on your own strength.
How long does counselling last?
Each session lasts 50 minutes. We will have some assessment sessions together and see how we get on. It will be important for you to see whether you feel that we can work together over a longer period of time.
We can then discuss and can regularly review our way of working together and the number of sessions you need or might want.
What if I want to know more?
You may have many questions about counselling, so please do not hesitate to contact me and I would be happy to discuss them with you.
