About me

Are you feeling anxious or depressed? Stressed? Have you suffered a relationship breakdown, loss or bereavement? Do you have an addiction or patterns of behaviour such as anger, fear, or shyness, that are affecting your happiness and your relationships with others? Are you worrying about the future, or the past? Are you struggling at work or at home, with family, colleagues or friends? Do you feel alone, or unable to talk to anyone about how you are feeling?

Sometimes, whatever your worries, it's good to talk to someone who is understanding, warm, solid, safe and confidential, caring and calm, and who has had the highest level training in helping people through their problems. Talking with an experienced and qualified counsellor can help ease those problems, so that you might feel more able to face life on your own terms.

My name is Mike Jones and I'm a BACP qualified integrative counsellor working in Colchester, Essex.

I'd be very happy to answer any questions personally if you would like to get in contact with me on 07867 884848. Please do leave a message or send a text and I can call you back.

What can I expect?

I am known for being warm, calm, and caring. You can talk with me about any difficulties or distress in your life. You might come to counselling with any number of problems and things that are affecting your life and the way you are feeling. I can give you a place of safety and confidentiality, listening with understanding and care, and using my experience and training to help you find a way through whatever is affecting your life.

How does counselling work?

I work using a person-centred approach building a warm, genuine and understanding relationship to the counselling room.

I work in an integrative manner, which means that I draw on other different ways of counselling, such as CBT, Gestalt, Existential and Psychodynamic theory, in order to find a way of working that will best suit your needs.

Will you be the right counsellor for me?

I work with a wide variety of adult clients and have experience of many different issues.

From personal experience I am aware that it can be difficult to seek support. To make the counselling experience as accessible and comfortable as possible I am always aware of the difficulties people can face when seeking support and help.

We can talk about any of your concerns and anxieties about your life and its challenges, and through working together, enable you to come to your own understanding and draw on your own strength.

How long does counselling last?

Each session lasts 50 minutes. We will have some assessment sessions together and see how we get on. It will be important for you to see whether you feel that we can work together over a longer period of time.

We can then discuss and can regularly review our way of working together and the number of sessions you need or might want.

What if I want to know more?

You may have many questions about counselling, so please do not hesitate to contact me and I would be happy to discuss them with you.
