About me

I am dedicated to helping people make those choices that can improve the quality of their life – starting from the inside out.

During Covid-19 I am delivering sessions online and via telephone. I have a specific Online Diploma (OCST) and substantial experience in online and telephone Counselling. I am a professional member of ACTO.  (Association for Counselling & Therapy Online.)

I have lengthy expereince in one to one and Couples counselling, having worked, since 1996, in both a private practice – Healthworks Holistic Healthcare Ltd in Forres – and NHS setting, providing a weekly Counselling clinic at Nairn’s Town and County Hospital. I also work for EAPs and Charities and offer, as well as face to face, Online Counselling – Skype, VSee, emails, and IM Instant Messaging.

The cornerstone of my Counselling practice is deep empathic listening and a desire to help empower whoever I work with, anchored in the theory and vision of the person-centred approach. My way of working is both humanistic and transpersonal.

At times it is not easy to deal with overwhelming problems and painful, troubling feelings. The Counselling hour offers a professional, safe, neutral, confidential environment in which to do

As well as helping foster good emotional and mental health Counselling can help us to develop our self-awareness and to understand why we react to certain people and situations in the ways we do. Working with a Counsellor who is non-judgemental enables us to safely explore those areas of our lives where we would like to see changes take place.

Counselling also helps to bring things which are out of, or on the edge of, our awareness into full awareness, which can then be explored in more depth.

Life issues I deal with span the immense range of everyday human experience, from abuse, to wondering what to do, where to go next and the quest for a more fulfilling life. I have a special interest in Relationship/Couples Counselling and also Online Counselling. Another significant element of my work is supporting those with online Porn Addiction, enabling disclosures. I am particularly inspired by the work of UKCP registered psychotherapist Paula Hall who specialises in sex addiction.

I work within the BACPs Ethical Framework and am required to have monthly Counselling Supervision.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Counselling and have also successfully completed an Advance Training Certificate course in Couple Counselling at Strathclyde University, Glasgow. Couples/relationship Counselling is a special interest of mine.

I have a Diploma in Online Counselling (0CST) too and work through Skype, VSee; emails and IM (Instant Messaging.)

I have ongoing professional development, CPD, and have taken courses and trainings in Mindfulness, among many others, and, where appropriate, bring this, and a meditative approach, to counselling sessions.

Also, I have over 20 years experience in facilitating/leading therapeutic/personal transformation groups and leading conferences on healing and self-development. Not least, I have considerable life experience.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
