Michael Bulcock MBACP BA(Hons)
If you feel you have reached a point where it is time to address the issues that are holding you back then I can help. If you feel stressed, anxious, depressed, overwhelmed by grief or loss, that your alcohol, drug or food use is out of control or that your relationships are not how you want them to be then I am here to offer you support and guidance, helping you make sense of your thoughts and emotions.
I am a Person Centred Counsellor who offers one-to-one counselling where together we can explore whatever it is you feel is impacting on your ability to enjoy life. I can support you as you explore whatever may be stopping you from moving on.
I have personal experience of counselling and addiction, I have been sober for fifteen years now and have a very good insight into the experiences and needs of someone who feels they have nowhere to turn to at present. I can offer the support you need to overcome the grip of addiction and understand what a dark and lonely place this can be.
Sometimes talking things through with a professional who has experienced counselling themselves can help to make sense of issues that may be troubling you and blocking your path to the future you desire. Anxiety, stress and depression can significantly impact on your life and relationships, stopping you from being the person you are meant to be.
I work in a relational manner which involves us building a truly trusting and empathic relationship, understanding the world from your perspective is the key to our work together.
As an Integrative counsellor I am able to draw on different styles of working, I have the flexibility to draw on the approach which I believe is best suited to your needs at the time, offering you a wider range of support. I work predominantly with a person-centred approach, focusing on your thoughts and feelings as they come up, staying in touch with what is happening for you at that time. This helps me to get an idea of what it means to be you and how those thoughts, feelings and processes can impact and affect the way you live.
Working through the challenges and difficulties you may be experiencing will give you a greater understanding and clarity of how to make the changes necessary for the future you desire. I will be at your side supporting you completely throughout this process.
I offer both short, between six and twelve sessions, and the option of longer term therapy if we decide together that this is more suited to your needs. I would invite you to an initial session where we would discuss how best I could support you and, more importantly, for you to see how you feel about working with me. There is no obligation as choosing the right counsellor for you will offer you the best chance of making the changes you desire.
I am a member of the BACP, British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and abide by their code of ethics. I have regular supervision to enable me to offer you the best possible support.
