If you are struggling to make sense of your life I am keen to offer support. Counselling can give you the tools you need to find direction and create meaning. Moreover it can provide you with relief from emotional distress and increased freedom and personal choice.
I appreciate that reaching out to make that first step towards counselling can feel daunting but rest assured that you will meet with a warm welcome. I see clients in a tranquil and comfortable consulting room in the centre of Cambridge and offer a warm and empathetic approach. Evening appointments and parking are available.
I work with both person-centred and psychodynamic principles and offer either short-term or open-ended counselling.
I believe counselling has the potential to bring about personal growth and transformation by for instance promoting fresh insights about oneself and the other people and elements that compose your world. In addition it can enrich your own valuable inner resources and strengthen your ability to access and utilise these.
It is in part the substantial personal rewards that counselling can give clients that draws me to work in this field. I always strive to treat my clients with compassion, sensitivity and respect and create a safe and non-judgemental space where they can feel listened to and can address their concerns at their own pace.
I have an Upper Second BA(Hons) degree in Modern Iberian and Latin American Regional Studies from University College, University of London and hold an M.Phil in Latin American Studies from the University of Cambridge. I obtained a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in August 2013.
I have worked as a volunteer counsellor for children and young people at a Cambridgeshire secondary school between 2012 and 2016. I have also been counselling many adults since May 2015 for a Cambridgeshire based organisation named SkyBlue.
I have also worked until recently for the YMCA Trinity Group as an Intervention Worker. I have delivered resilience-building programmes that involve working with groups and mentoring individual pupils at various primary schools and a secondary school.
I take a very active interest in Continuing Professional Development for counsellors and psychotherapists and am always eager to expand my theoretical knowledge and clinical skills so that I can improve my service to clients. With this aim in mind I regularly attend a variety of study days, conferences and workshops and also read widely.
If after reading my profile you feel you would like to make contact please do so.
I will then suggest we have a brief conversation on the phone and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have for me. I will then suggest we meet in person for an initial consultation lasting 50 minutes. This will be charged at my usual sessional rate which is £45 per 50 minute session. This consultation gives you the opportunity to see if you will feel comfortable working with me and gives me the chance to assess your wants and needs. If after this you choose to proceed with counselling I will find you a regular weekly slot.
I look forward to hearing from you.
