About me
Whether you have a clear understanding of what the current issues in your life are, or you just have a sense that something is just not quite right, and would like a better understanding of yourself, therapy can help you explore, clarify and address aspects of your life and emotions affecting you. Talking to a therapist in a safe and confidential space allows discussion of thought processes, unexplored emotions and patterns of behaviour in order to develop a deeper and more complete awareness of yourself. Therapy can help you make meaningful changes in your life with greater freedom, choice and understanding.
I'm a firm believer there is not a ‘one shoe fits all’ approach when working with clients. As an integrative practitioner, I use a variety of counselling techniques, which I tailor to each individual based on their needs and circumstances. A vital component in my practice is developing a positive therapeutic relationship, building trust and honesty in a collaborative partnership so that you feel comfortable and supported as much as possible to explore yourself in depth and express your needs.
There are two main counselling frameworks in which our work together may focus. Working psychodynamically, we may explore your childhood and early life relationship dynamics to become more conscious of things outside of your awareness, understanding more about your past. Working with the humanistic approach is where we can focus on the 'here-and-now', exploring your current subjective understanding of life events and how this affects your self-worth. This therapeutic approach can provide greater self-development by gaining insight into your own personal value and unique strengths.
I initially provide a free and informal phone consultation, which takes approximately 15 minutes to discuss your reasons for wanting to pursue therapy, and answer any questions and queries you may have.
The first session then gives us the chance to discuss in more depth what issues you are facing, and determine how you can best be supported. It is an important step to assess how we work together and whether we are a good fit for one and other.

Registered Member of BACP, the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
