About me

I am a person-centred counsellor and I offer a therapeutic relationship in a safe, confidential and supportive therapeutic environment where you are free to explore and express anything that is on your mind. I offer:

  • A safe and confidential space to explore what you are thinking and feeling.
  • A therapeutic relationship based on trust, encouragement and support.
  • A counsellor who listens with acceptance and understanding rather than judgement and instruction.
  • A time and space where there are no conditions placed on your worth as a human being.
  • A time and space to feel and talk about what you are thinking and feeling.
  • A time and space where you can ‘be’.
  • The opportunity to work at your own pace and explore material that is important to you.
  • A time and space for self-reflection, self-awareness and self-discovery.
  • A time and space where you can experience a healing process.
  • Empowerment: discovery of your own solutions that feel right for you, which can increase trust in yourself and your own ability to make decisions.
  • A time and space where you can explore any personal traumas.
  • An understanding of who you are, your thoughts reactions and experiences.

I have worked with a variety of presenting issues including clients experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal feelings and thoughts, self-injury, stress, post-traumatic stress (disorder), childhood abuse (male and female), rape and sexual assault (male and female), grief, loss and bereavement.

I trained at The University of Nottingham and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have a Master Degree in Trauma Studies (now called Trauma Informed Practice) from the University of Nottingham. My practice is guided by the BACP Ethical Framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
