About me

Have you ever found yourself thinking that other people seem to have some secret to life that you don't know yet?

Maybe you feel lost, alone, or unsure where you truly belong. Perhaps you keep finding yourself stuck in the same patterns, especially in relationships, and no matter how hard you try, change feels just out of reach.

Sometimes, to cope with painful emotions, people turn to alcohol, drugs, food, or other numbing behaviours. If any of this feels familiar, have you ever considered that these struggles might be rooted in your past?

I’m here to help you uncover and release the beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you. If you're feeling exhausted by the weight you’re carrying, know that you don’t have to do this alone. Together, we can begin to create the life you truly want and deserve.

I offer tailored support to help you:

  • Gain insight into the root causes of your difficulties and develop practical, personalised strategies to overcome them
  • Heal from past trauma through NHS-approved therapies, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Address unhelpful behaviours and patterns in relationships that may be causing distress
  • Recover from unhealthy coping mechanisms such as substance misuse or addictive behaviours, and build healthier ways to manage stress
  • Enhance your self-esteem and confidence so you can move toward your personal and professional aspirations

I have a passion for working with those who are neurodivergent, and I am passionate about helping you to build on your strengths and overcome the challenges if this applies to you.

I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches - including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I blend this with my prior knowledge and experience of working in leadership roles to support you in moving forward.

I’m committed to working to the highest professional standards, offering a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space. My approach is empathic and empowering, helping you build resilience and more effective problem-solving skills.

Appointments are available online via MS Teams/Google Meet/WhatsApp at flexible times, so you can access support comfortably and conveniently from your own home.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

How to get started...

Send me a message to arrange a brief telephone consultation where you can ask any questions and book your first appointment.

What to expect...

In your first session, we will work at your pace to understand the difficulties you are facing and plan our work together. I am happy to work with you for just a few sessions, or you may wish to work on issues in more depth over an extended period of time, which I can also accommodate. We will set therapeutic goals and review these on a regular basis to ensure that our work together is focused and on track.

Working with anxiety, depression and difficult emotions...

I provide counselling and psychotherapy around a wide range of issues, helping you to develop coping strategies and get your life back on track. I deliver coaching for workplaces and individuals around personal and professional development, having more than 15 years of experience in leadership and management roles in local Government and charities prior to training as a therapist. I also offer supervision to other therapists.

Working with Trauma...

If you have experienced traumatic events in your life, recently or in the past, you can be left with a living legacy of difficult symptoms that affect you mentally and physically. This can continue to have a huge impact on you and your quality of life long after the incident(s) happened. I can help you to heal and move on from this, using NHS recommended therapies for trauma - EMDR and Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner so you can be assured of my experience in applying this approach.

Working with addictions...

I am passionate about working with people struggling with addictions, or who are worried that their use of alcohol or drugs, or other addictive behaviours has become out of hand. I believe in the importance of understanding what drives you to use these coping mechanisms and helping you to find new ways to deal with emotions. Please ring me to talk about the comprehensive package of support I can offer if your use of alcohol, drugs or other substances is causing problems for you.

Support for families affected by addictions...

I understand that you can feel very much alone if you have a loved one struggling with addictions and I am here to support you, whilst you are supporting them.

My other areas of interest are abuse, including domestic abuse, and childhood trauma. I work to the BACP Code of Ethics for the Counselling Professions and in accordance with this I have regular clinical supervision for all my work.
