About me

About Me

I am a qualified BACP registered Gestalt Humanistic counsellor. I offer long term and short term counselling sessions to individuals and couples.

I am committed to help you achieve the positive change, clarity or support you seek in your life. Counselling provides an opportunity for you to explore and make sense of your concerns, to gain insight, to trust yourself to make choices in life that come from you and to develop the confidence to handle the challenges you encounter.

I support you to understand and overcome the blocks to your happiness and freedom and to harness your potential to heal and create positive transformation in your life. Conscious change ultimately begins with you.

What is at the heart of keeping you stuck or in a negative space? When you can acknowledge a difficult emotion and understand why you have developed this emotion, you have the power to adapt to challenges from a place of power rather than helplessness.

My Approach

My approach is to work alongside you in exploring and making sense of what is troubling you. It might be that you have never talked about your problems to others or that you may have found it too overwhelming to do so. I understand how challenging it can be to trust and talk to someone about personal and painful issues.

My clients have told me they have found counselling to be beneficial in working through old negative patterns, developing a stronger connection to self and rebuilding emotional resilience to handle obstacles in life. Clients have reported feeling greater freedom in living a more authentic life, experiencing clarity and confidence in decision making, prioritising their needs first and improved connection in personal and professional relationships.

I offer a respectful and warm hearted presence where you can begin to explore your feelings without fear of being judged, criticised or shamed safely and confidentially.

I specialise in working with people affected by life issues such as anxiety, depression, addictions, loss and bereavement, childhood or adult trauma, domestic violence and relationship issues.

Taking the next step

Please contact me either by telephone or email to find out whether counselling can help you. You are welcome to book an initial online consultation to discuss your concerns in more detail. It also gives us the chance to see if we both feel comfortable to work together. You are under no obligation to continue further with counselling after this initial consultation.

Professional Body

I am a registered member of the BACP (the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) which is the leading body for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK. I am committed to adhering to their strict code of ethics and framework.

Training, qualifications & experience

In addition to my private practice, I have worked in numerous busy London counselling services, offering support for

• survivors of childhood trauma and domestic violence

• clients affected by loss and bereavement

• clients affected by anxiety, depression, addiction and anger issues

• student counselling service at a London University.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

My mixed heritage has led me to be aware and sensitive to my own cultural background and beliefs. As a result of my experiences, I have developed a respect and sensitivity to cultural differences within our society.

Prior to training as a Humanistic Counsellor, I worked as a solicitor in the City of London. I understand the impact of work pressures both within personal and professional relationships.

Additional previous employment include managing a London based nursing agency to support adults with autism, dual sensory impairment and mental health issues.

My passion for animal welfare led me to volunteer and then work overseas in Africa and Fiji to participate in animal conservation projects.
