About me

Everyone needs a bit of help now and then. Counselling is about me listening to you and supporting you, for you to get that little bit of help for whatever you may be struggling with. Counselling allows you to talk to a trained professional, who is not involved in your personal life. I work in a non-judgmental way and what you decide to discuss during your counselling sessions is totally up to you. I am here to support you and offer you a safe space to allow you to explore your own feelings and issues. I will help you to speak about a problem and come to a solution which is right for you.

People I work with

I have experience in counselling a wide range of people, including carers, adopters and people who are adopted, nurses, doctors, police, performers, public speakers, and also students, parents, teachers and other professionals within the education system.

I have extensive experience working with the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Survivors of Abuse and Trauma
  • Relationships
  • Work-related Problems
  • Parenting Issues
  • Adoption Issues
  • Young People
  • Counselling and coaching actors, artists, dancers, musicians, singers and writers
  • Public speaking anxiety including anxiety about speaking up in meetings
  • Confidence and self-esteem coaching for performances, auditions, exams etc.

What to expect in your first session

Give me a call and I will do my best to put you at ease. We can have a brief chat about what you would like to come to counselling for. I will book you in for an initial session, for you to see if you feel comfortable working with me, and for me to see if I feel my counselling is suitable for you. We can then book further sessions, usually done on a weekly basis.

About the sessions

I am currently offering online therapy on Zoom, Skype, Video calls or telephone counselling.

I also offer walk and talk therapy, after we have had at least one session.

When we are back to face to face, you will be offered the choice to continue online or in-person if you prefer.

My therapy room is a cosy comfortable safe place, decorated in peaceful colours. On arrival, you will be greeted by a warm friendly welcome and will be offered a mug of a hot drink or a glass of water.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have 21 years of experience in counselling in different settings, including counselling centres and a GP surgery. I also have experience of working in Education, Adoption Support, Performing Arts, and Public Speaking. I have been a member of the adoption panel.

I have written courses and materials on Managing Social and Emotional Issues including Anxiety, Stress, Negative Thinking and Perfectionism.

My scientific background lends itself to use some very useful NLP and Mindfulness techniques, to help challenge a client’s negative beliefs about themselves.

My experience in the performing arts helps me with specialist techniques to provide a service as a confidence coach and self-esteem coach for artists, actors, dancers, musicians and singers, including coaching for performances and public speaking. I have a microphone system for performance practice and for microphone technique.

I have a background in education and offer counselling for teachers and other professionals in education, students, concerned parents, as well as coaching for study and exam techniques.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
