Mehnaz Chaudhry MSc (Psych.) Psychotherapist & Counsellor MBACP
1 Snow Hill Court
I am a qualified and experienced therapist, specialised in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Counselling. I work with clients’ individually from a comfortable, quiet location in Central London. The therapy sessions are confidential and depending on your reason for seeking therapy, I offer both short-term counselling and open-ended psychotherapy.
People come for psychotherapy and counselling for many different reasons. Some people seek help for current onset problems that they have recently encountered while others wish to work on longstanding difficulties that date back many years. Therapists are trained, experienced professionals who have the skills to alleviate painful and distressing feelings. Listed below are some of these problems which people seek help for (under "areas of counselling").
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor, my theoretical orientation is based on psychoanalytical concepts and ideas. This means that I work in an empathic, non-judgmental manner, providing a secure and confidential space in which you will have a voice and be listened to. We will work towards understanding your underlying or unconscious issues that have a profound influence on your everyday life. The work is carried out by exploring and analysing your thoughts, feelings, emotions; your early relationships and examine recurring patterns and how your past experiences perhaps affect and manifest in the present relationships. I will help you in starting to understand yourself better and to become more self-aware. This can be a painful and poignant process but an important stage to go through before arriving at a place where you feel more content.
If you are seeking therapy for recent onset problems, such as bereavement, end of a relationship, work-related issues etc. we can meet for once a week counselling sessions that are specifically focused on the presenting problem. Counselling sessions are time-limited, each session lasts up to 50 minutes and we can agree to meet for a number of weeks, minimum of 6 weeks.
Psychotherapy is best suited if you wish to gain better insight by engaging in deeper analysis or seek therapy to examine more complex longstanding problems and unresolved issues. We would meet once or twice a week for 50-minute sessions on a long-term/open-ended contract.
Initial consultation meeting:
After we have agreed on a day and time to meet, I will invite you to an initial consultation which may take up to two sessions. Each session will take up to 50 minutes and it is an opportunity for us to explore the reasons that have brought you to therapy. Once the consultation sessions are over, we will discuss the best course of treatment for you.
When you feel that you are ready to make contact, you can send an email or leave a voice message and I will get in contact with you promptly. All contact is confidential.
All therapy sessions are confidential and take place in a safe and secure environment in my consulting room in Farringdon, EC1A 2EJ. I adhere to the patient-therapist boundaries and guidelines set by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

It is common to feel uncertain about needing therapeutic help and many people often find it difficult to make the initial contact. Therapists are sensitive to the anxiety that can be felt during this process and some people feel they are not ready to start therapy. Bearing this in mind, it takes courage to commit to counselling/psychotherapy and the first step in the direction of working towards change.
