About me

Specialist Support for Birth Trauma

I specialise in supporting women who have experienced a difficult or traumatic birth. My aim is to help you process what has happened, reclaim your life, and feel confident in making decisions about your future.

I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) - both recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as effective treatments for trauma and anxiety.

CBT is a structured, collaborative approach. In the context of birth trauma, we work together to understand how your experience may be impacting your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours - such as anxiety, hypervigilance, guilt, or avoidance of reminders like hospitals or future pregnancies. Together, we identify what might be keeping you stuck and develop practical, empowering strategies to support your recovery and emotional wellbeing.

EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories so they no longer feel as raw or overwhelming. With birth trauma, this can mean reducing the intensity of vivid flashbacks, emotional numbness, or a sense of disconnection from yourself or your baby. EMDR often enables clients to access healing without needing to talk through every detail of the birth, which can make it a particularly gentle and effective option.

In addition to addressing the trauma itself, I also support women with related difficulties that may have developed or worsened since the birth - such as anxiety, low mood, relationship strain, or loss of confidence.

Please do not hesitate to email or text for further information.
