About me

Hi I'm Megan. Life can throw unexpected difficulties in our direction at any time and things can get tough making you feel anxious, fearful, sad, trapped or alone causing you to struggle and feel you cant find your way out. Maybe you are struggling due to the current Corona Virus pandemic. Facing challenges and contemplating changes ahead which may be heightening stress levels or leave you feeling more out of control.

You are not alone as I can be there to help you to understand your situation better, work out the choices you have and enable you to find ways forward to regain control and achieve a happier you.

You may not have tried talking therapies before when situations are stressful. Or find it possible to talk to close family or friends about dilemmas you face or how you are really feeling. This is where counselling can be helpful to you. I can provide a safe and non-judgemental space away from normal hectic life and responsibilities where we concentrate just on you. You will feel heard and supported and have a safe space to work through life challenges with warmth and respect of someone who is not emotionally involved.

I am a qualified and registered counsellor & psychotherapist with 20 years experience supporting others with their emotional and psychological well-being whilst working in a variety of settings including The NHS, Private and Voluntary Sectors. I also embark on continual professional development training every year in a wide range of subjects, which enhances my knowledge, skills to facilitate others in difficulties they may be facing.

I am passionate in supporting those adjusting to life challenges and difficulties as well as being by their side when things start to go wrong. Everyone is unique and in my own ways of working I offer a confidential and personalised therapy that is tailored to you by integrating many models and techniques. This can help you to understand areas that are holding you back and find effective ways to move forward  whilst working holistically and at a pace that is right for you. Take a chance... put yourself first as I am there for you.

I work with those experiencing many life hurdles that are affecting their well-being. I specialise with loss, adjustment and trauma issues whether these be within self, another or circumstances. With extensive professional experience supporting others including, those in crisis, suicidal ideation, chronic & life limited illness, PTSD, DID and PD and with a keen interest supporting others with ASD, Learning Difficulties.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
