About me

I'm a registered psychotherapist, who specialises in individual psychotherapy. I'm experienced and passionate about harnessing psychology and neuroscience to help my clients to grow and heal. I work pluralistically, within a humanistic framework. This means I take the time to treat each client individually, drawing on over a decade of continuing training and experience to tailor my approach to your specific needs.

From bespoke therapy with me, you can expect a safe and non-judgmental space which will support your growth and healing. I bring neuroscience, relational thinking, contemporary psychodynamic theory, and a repertoire of evidence-based skills and techniques, such as those from the person-centred approach and cognitive behavioural therapies.

My style is coaching and empowering. I am particularly skilled at helping high achievers and athletes to move through blocks and harness their potential. I am experienced with trauma, and my diverse knowledge and skillset ranges from neuroscience to philosophy. So I am well equipped to help you through whatever it is that might be troubling you, whether that is the everyday or the existential.

What I do well

  • Weekly, long-term 1:1 therapy that is discreet and tailored specifically to you
  • Exploring past traumas and relational patterns, helping you to increase your self-awareness and practice healthier ways of relating to your self and others
  • Practical strategies for stress management, emotional regulation, and the maintenance of healthy habits

What my clients say

“My sessions with Meadhbh have been so helpful— she’s a great therapist. She really takes the time to create a feeling of trust and a space that is comfortable. She is also very flexible in her treatment, offering me many potential solutions and helping me find the best option for me.”

“Her expertise, strategies on how to cope, it was extremely helpful to have someone who listens without judgement”

“Comfortable environment, friendly approach, good balance of listening to me and helping me process through stuff, but also challenging me to help me to explore things without making me feel judged”

“Meadhbh is absolutely amazing and brilliant at what she does... she has helped me so much in such a big way I’ll be forever grateful”

“I get a lot out of my sessions. I rate my therapist highly, I don’t always look forward to them but do always feel they have benefitted me.”

“This is very different to counselling and other therapy I have done before because there is much more of a dialogue... The tea and sympathy approach is fine but long term has always frustrated me so your way is better I think!”

“I never ever felt judged and felt really comfortable opening up about personal things I’ve never spoken to anyone about.”

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over a decade of experience working with people with mental health problems, including extensive NHS experience - in mental health, forensic mental health, and neurology - as well as in the education sector and charity work.

  • BSc (Hons) in Psychology
  • MSc (merit) in the Psychology & Neuroscience of Mental Health

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
