Maureen Buckley, MBACP - Counsellor/Therapist
Allow me to introduce myself - I am a respectful, compassionate Counsellor, retired from a 25-year career in nursing within the NHS. I have gained a great deal of experience in working with people who find themselves in difficult, distressing situations or facing major life changes. This has given me an empathic and non-judgemental outlook on the issues you might be facing.
I am warm, friendly and welcoming. I consider it important that I help my clients to feel engaged with me. This assists the process we undertake together, exploring and addressing your needs.
What can I help you with? - Over the years I have worked with clients experiencing a variety of problems including depression and anxiety, relationship problems, historical abuse, grief, bereavement and loss. If you are experiencing issues that are making life feel overwhelming you have taken the first brave step to working them out by looking at this website.
Types of therapy - I am a qualified Integrative therapist, which means I have been trained in a variety of therapies.
How I work - My therapeutic approach is that I personalise and tailor my sessions to each individuals needs - helping you to help yourself, in a safe, secure environment.
I can offer you a free 30 minute introductory session. If you choose to proceed with future session, I shape my approach to enable you to focus on your concerns, exploring this together. I may also provide clients with articles and other reading/helpful strategies that I feel might encourage discussion in future sessions, hopefully aiding recovery and gaining self-awareness.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
