About me

Hello, I'm Matt. I’m an Integrative Counsellor working to help people that wish to change their lives. People, perhaps like you..?

Sometimes it's hard to find time for ourselves in our busy lives but by reflecting on ourselves and our issues, we can better understand and equip ourselves with the awareness and skills to make positive changes in our lives, for the present and the future.

I offer one-to-one counselling using an Integrative approach. Together we have a unique space with time to explore your thoughts and feelings. You're not judged or criticised, but understood and accepted. We work together safely and with trust, so you can better understand yourself, better handle life’s difficulties and start to make the changes you want in your life...

Counselling gives us the chance to look at ourselves and change things for the better. I can help you:

  • explore your thoughts & feelings
  • make sense of your experiences increase your self-awareness
  • cope with problems and difficulties
  • form new perspectives & options develop your ability to make choices

Issues with which I have particular experience include:

  • Anxiety & Stress
  • Depression
  • Self Esteem issues
  • Loss & Seperation
  • Sadness, Bereavement & Grief
  • Relationship, Separation / Divorce & Family Issues
  • Personality & Bipolar / Manic Depressive Disorders

  • Self Harm
  • Abuse
  • Trauma / PTSD
  • Addictions (alcohol, gambling, sexual)
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Emotional & Identity issues
  • Sexuality / Gender Identity
  • Phobias

I am BACP Registered (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapists) and work safely and ethically, abiding by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling.

I offer short and long term therapy, which is one-to-one. I work face-to-face, where we meet in person for sessions. I also offer online counselling too.

My private practice is based in Selby, which is easily accessed by towns such as Goole, York, Doncaster and the surrounding areas of North, West, South and East Yorkshire. The rooms are private, bright and comfortable.

In addition to my private practice I also run a counselling charity called SHINE! which provides counselling for young people. I am a Tutor of Counselling for an organisation with links to the NHS.

Please feel free to contact me for a free no obligation consultation to hear more about what I offer and to discuss what you might be looking for from therapy.

Thank you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
