About me

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist ( MSc,  Reg. MBACP) experienced with working with teenagers and children in a variety of different settings. I aim to work flexibly to create a warm, caring and friendly environment to enable  young people to think and work through the issues they maybe facing in order to bring about lasting change.

I have experience working with anxiety, depression, low self esteem ( I have an interest in how dyslexia can effect mental health in young people) and identity , bereavement, panic attaks,  ADHD, ASD / autistic traits and any other issue that young people might face. I am always happy to support parents as they seek to find the right treatment for their child and refer on where necessary. I also offer parenting sessions for those moments when parents just need advice from  a professionals  about their child.

Each session is 50 minutes long. Initial first sessions are always an opportunity for me to do an assessment and for the young person to find out if I would be a helpful person to talk to before committing to any future session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a MSc in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. I currently work for a local charity that works with homeless young people aged 16 to 23  and I also work 2 days a week in a local school.

I have been working as a psychotherapist for 10 years but prior to that I have over 20 years experience of working with adolescents in both informal and educational settings.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I charge £85 a session.

I ask for payment at the beginning of the session or in advance by BACS payment.
( I firmly believe that all parents and young people should be able to access a quality service especially when they are in a crisis moment with concerns about mental health. I therefore offer a sliding scale of payment which I am always very happy to discuss with my clients. I have found that people are very respectful of this offer and understand that by paying full fees  they enable me to offer lower rates to those who might need it.)
