I have successfully helped a wide range of clients with Anxiety including General Anxiety Disorder, Depression or Feeling Sad, family and relationship issues, bereavement, low mood, stress, low self-esteem, work stress and redundancy, guilt and shame, bullying, body image, trauma, addiction and other difficulties which affect mental health and well-being.

I offer a free, no-obligation initial informal consultation where you can check out if I am the right counsellor for you and find out more about how I can help you.

I have successfully helped a diverse range of women and men of all ages including different ethnicities, sexualities, neuro-diversities (including autism and ADHD) and disabilities.

I can also offer walking counselling as well as face to face therapy within my local areas around Warrington, St.Helens, Widnes or Furness Vale.

As well as these general categories I have also supported many people in counselling who want to be able to explore their own spirituality or faith journey as part of their therapy.

I am a full registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I am a fully inclusive, Person-Centred Counsellor and can offer insights from a wide array of other counselling perspectives including Integrative, Existential and CBT insights as appropriate if desired.

I have a warm and friendly approach and offer a free, no-obligation initial consultation where you can see if I am the right Counsellor for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I first studied counselling 30 years ago focusing on Jungian Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA). After helping people using my counselling skills for 30 years I qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor to be able to help those suffering with their mental health, especially with the pandemic.

I now run a small private practice dedicated to helping people to heal, grow and flourish and be able to live life to the full. I continue to keep up to date with the latest good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and am taking a Professional Doctorate researching the crossover between Counselling and Spirituality.

  • BSc. (Hons) - First in Chemistry
  • BA (Hons) - 2:1 in Theological Studies

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Counselling is the process of working through the things that trouble you and hold you back in life with someone you can trust who is qualified to help you.

Counselling helps you to heal emotionally and spiritually, which in turn has real benefits for physical and mental health.

There are lots of different types of counselling or therapy.  30 years ago I trained in Jungian Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA), which I can integrate into your therapy.

More recently I trained and qualified in Person-Centred Counselling. This means that I will never judge you and will try to put myself into your shoes. I will try to see things and experience things as you do from your point of view.

I will walk with you as you work through the issues that trouble you. As we look at your issues together insights emerge which set you free from things that have been holding you back. You are able to accept yourself more. You can appreciate and love the good in you more. You become happier and more self-confident. You are clearer about your own needs and what you have to offer others. You can stick up for yourself more easily. You feel more empowered to live your life to the full. You become free to truly live well, grow and flourish.

Person-Centred Counselling is a tried and tested way of helping people with a ride range of difficulties to live a happier, free-er life – more self-confident, authentic and grounded in who they are. It has shown to be extremely helpful with issues including anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties, bereavement, lack of self-confidence and healing of trauma and hurts.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I strive to make my services accessible to everyone. Please contact me if you have a particular need so that I can accommodate you if at all possible. For example I am used to accommodating clients who are hard of hearing and need to lip read.
