I have a great passion and enthusiasm for the work I do as a counsellor, my aim is to offer a safe and confidential space, either face to face or online for you or your child to explore and focus on the issues that are impacting your life. I am experienced in a range of approaches to fit both adult and child.
I have extensive experience working with Adults and Children in a range of counselling settings including community, schools and online.
I qualified in 2007 as a youth worker and 2013 as an Integrative Counselor and have since this gained a wealth of training and experience, this includes Post Graduate Certificate in child and youth counselling using creative and therapeutic play techniques.
My experience includes but is not limited to:
child and youth counselling, including, anxiety, depression, autism, school issues, family break down, anger and grief/loss. I work in a way that allows for both talking and creative approaches dependent on the needs of the child/young person.
And with adults where I have extensive experience working with addictions counselling, anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, grief/loss, relationships, domestic abuse/violence and Men's issues.
The idea of Counselling can feel like a daunting experience stepping into the unknown but I like to look at it like two people having a helpful conversation where the focus is on you and what's impacting your life. The aim of counselling is to help you move closer to resolving what's impacting you and step closer to wellness and balance.
Also I have been also working within the helping professions for 18 yrs including mental health supports, youth work, employability and family work and working within the homeless and care sector and have an extensive knowledge of further supports available for individuals and families.
If you have further questions as to how we could work together with you or with your child please don't hesitate to give me a call or send an email.
Health and happiness Martin.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
