About me

Thank you for visiting my profile.I am a fully qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I am an Integrative therapist using all aspects of psychotherapy that are relevant and applicable to each individual client, which means I work always in your best interest, using my knowledge and skills to tailor the therapy to best suit you and your current situation.

I have many years of experience in the field of mental health and have close personal experience in a number of areas. I myself have battled in the past with my own mental health and so have a sound understanding of the struggles of life. I understand the impact issues from the past and those in our present can have on our mental health. My own difficulties and resolving them is what led me to become a counsellor. I have a great interest in people and am very passionate about forming therapeutic relationships that can facilitate change. I offer a strictly confidential service and abide by the BACP's Code of Ethics and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence's (NICE) guidelines. My tailored therapy places emphasis on your immediate needs but can also incorporate exploration and identification of strengths, ways of coping and issues causing effect, this is all conducted from a confidential supportive and structured environment. I work with and am experienced in a wide and varied range of situations. I have specialist training in a number of areas including Breathing exercises, Coping strategies, OCD, Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) and relationships.

To Get Started:

If you would like to work with me I offer an open, friendly, supportive and confidential service. Within the collaborative relationship of therapy, I offer respect, non-judgement and a focus on your potential to allow you the choice to move forward in the direction you feel most comfortable with. I am contactable by email or telephone, please feel free to contact me with any questions, queries or concerns you may have. You can also book an initial consultation to talk over your situation and investigate how therapy could assist you in moving forward. At this initial session we can also discuss any issues you might have and what you hope to achieve through counselling, if you are happy to proceed we can then set session dates and times and begin counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
