About me

Hi I am Marlene.  Thank you for viewing my profile.

I have been working as a Professional Practitioner within the Health service for over 10 years and am an Accredited and Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

In life we can go through difficult times, painful and distressing and sometimes feel we have no-one to turn to.  Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk through what is happening to you with an experienced Therapist who is skilled to work with you to bring about positive change.

My aim is to build up a trusting therapeutic relationship with you to create a safe and warm environment where you will feel respected and not judged.

Attending counselling gives you the opportunity to reflect on and talk through what is causing the difficulties in your life and together we can explore ways forward to making the changes that you feel need to happen in your life.

As a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor, I will incorporate techniques from various therapeutic approaches including Humanistic, Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural and Psychodynamic therapies that best suits your individual needs.

I appreciate it may be difficult to make the initial decision to attend counselling, however please be assured that I will do my very best to help you feel at ease by providing a safe, warm and confidential environment.

I offer an initial consultation which gives you the opportunity to talk through your reason for coming to counselling, how we can work together to be able to help you work through your issues and set goals to bring about the changes you would like to make in your life.  This first initial appointment gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

If you decide you would like to start therapy, then we will go over what day, time and duration of sessions that will suit you.

If I cannot help you I will try to signpost you to someone who may be able to help.

I also offer Mediation services in conjunction with a Qualified Mediator specialising in Family Mediation and Employee Relations Mediation.
