Mark Phillips Dip.Couns, Dip.CBT, MBACP Registered
Life can be a challenge for all of us at times and in today's hectic world it can sometimes be difficult to make yourself heard, to find the space and freedom for self discovery. This is just one of the areas where counselling can help.
I am currently in between practice premises so am only able to offer home visits or online/telephone counselling until the New Year.
There are times in all our lives when we need a little extra support such as dealing with bereavement, unresolved past issues, worry, panic attacks, anxiety or depression but counselling can be beneficial in other areas too. Perhaps your life has taken a new direction and you want to talk through new challenges. You may wish to explore your past or re-focus on some aspect of your life now; counselling can help in these and in many other areas.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified counsellor working from my own secure therapy rooms in Hamworthy, Poole. I am also able to offer a visiting service for those clients unable to attend my premises for whatever reason.
I am fully insured and my practice is informed by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) with whom I am a registered member.
I believe that therapy should be made to fit the client rather than the other way round. My practice is underpinned by a Person-Centred approach to therapy and I gained the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB) studying this counselling method. I also hold the Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and use a combination of different counselling approaches, sometimes referred to as an integrative counselling approach, depending on a client's needs.
The foundation of most counselling approaches to therapy recognise the importance of a strong therapeutic working alliance between client and therapist and I believe that it is important to use whatever tools or approaches are available to move a client forward in their explorations and journeys of self-discovery.
