About me

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist. You will be offered a safe and confidential space to talk. Sometimes it helps if I just hold some "string-ends" as you untangle your knotted ball of thoughts. Sometimes your story just needs telling and for you to hear yourself telling it and to know that I've given it my thoughtful and considered attention. Sometimes you need to know that someone knows how you feel and can give you the space to feel it. And sometimes you want someone to engage and perhaps challenge you in ways that others might not dare to.

Current life experiences are no doubt coloured and shaped by past life, especially childhood. Often the past has to be remembered and mourned, and celebrated. Although it is essential to explore all this there may also be a dream of the future that troubles you - a life yet to be lived...that you are starting to be called into...a place for imagination, intuition, wild guesses, "crazy thoughts", "going off at a tangent".

Training, qualifications & experience

Starting in 2011, I received a diploma in integrative and humanistic counselling from Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BCPC). This gave me a solid grounding in person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, particularly in providing a secure, ethical and regular space in which to explore freely.

Started in 2016, I am completing a post qualification diploma in integrative transpersonal psychotherapy at Re-Vision. This has given me the training to enable something much first dimly...the up-wellings of the unconscious - where you can start to dream your dream forwards.

I have been working with clients for over six years. Before that I have enjoyed a full professional life. I am married with adult children. Coming to this work later in life I feel I can bring a potent combination of mature life experience and "beginner's mind" - a sense of "freshness" to the work.

Concurrent with my counselling training I attended the Somatic Experiencing (SE) ® 3-Year Training. This approach is more directive than psychotherapy. With a basis in bodily sensations and feelings - the felt sense - it can be very useful to help ground the psychotherapeutic encounter when it might otherwise get too "heady".
