Southside Therapy Centre
1 Clarkston Road
Welcome to you in your search for a therapist.
Sometimes we are clear why we are coming for counselling and at other times we just have a felt sense that something isn't right and we want some help to change and develop. Either way, taking the first step to explore your own inner and outer world, and its impact, can feel both daunting and exhilarating.
Within the safe and confidential framework of counselling, there is a time, a place and a space for you to explore your current concerns: your journey of self development, your anxiety, your sense of yourself and how comfortable you feel within yourself and relationships as well as your thoughts, feelings, worries, memories, dreams, desires, hopes and fears.
I use two therapeutic approaches, Psychodynamic Counselling and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy to assist you.
These approaches can help with a wide range of issues (personal, work or student-related) as well as self-development.
My private practice is in both Ayr and Glasgow or alternatively within your home via Skype.
Please do contact me if you want to arrange either an evening or day appointment .
(Glasgow - Monday/Friday; Ayr - Thursday)
Both premises provide private and comfortable therapy rooms with ample parking and good public transport links.
Both premises are accessed via a set of stairs. Please let me know if this is prohibitive and I will find accessible alternative premises.

Qualified as a Psychodynamic Counsellor and an Internal Family Systems Therapist, I have lengthy experience and have practiced within the NHS, Mental Health Services, Education and the Voluntary Sector.
Psychodynamic Counselling considers all of your experiences, exploring the conscious and unconscious, looking at how these impact on your daily life and relationships.
Internal Family Systems is a Mindfulness based therapy working with your internal conflicts including those parts of you that seem to hold you back from engaging with the world and in your relationships as you would like.
These approaches can help with a wide range of issues (personal, work or student-related) such as self-development, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, rage, depression, eating issues, suicidal thoughts, relationships, bullying, bereavement, addictions (e.g. alcohol, drugs, sex) and sexual identity. However, what you bring to explore in therapy will be personal and unique to you for your own journey of self-development.
About Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS Therapy)
The IFS model is based on two core ideas:
- At our centre, we all have a Self which has the ability to act as an effective compassionate leader of our inner world.
- Our personalities are made up of many different aspects, or parts, that form themselves into a distinct internal system.
In an IFS session, I will gently and respectfully facilitate you to get to know these parts, some of which have often become trapped in roles and ways of working which are experienced by you as unwanted symptoms or unhelpful patterns of behaviour. The goal is to restore balance and harmony to the system as a whole.
You can get more information on IFS from my own website or from IFS UK.
Recent independent research has also shown a positive impact on physical conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Therapy can help with many parts of you that hold aspects of :
Perfectionism, Procrastination, Eating Issues, Anger, Depression, Low Self-Esteem, Anxiety, Control, Addictions, Shyness, Your Inner Critic and Judging Self, Trauma.
