About me

My name is Marilyn McKenzie and I am a qualified practising counsellor and psychotherapist who has worked with Relate and I specialise in the following areas:

  • Couples experiencing difficulty with intimacy or connection
  • Recovering after an affair
  • Singles who are struggling to find love or have unfulfilling sex lives
  • Addiction
  • Workplace Stress

Welcome to my page. I'm a therapist who focuses on relationships. Whether your partner had an affair, or perhaps you've realised that you no longer have a connection /intimacy, therapy can help. Maybe you're single and have been struggling to meet someone whom you can share your life with. Sometimes it's our families or friends we are struggling with. I am a Psychotherapist based near Cannon St & Angel and I'm here to help. An affair doesn't always mean the end of the relationship and it is possible to revive the intimacy with support.

Or maybe you are struggling with an addiction. It could be to drugs, sex, gambling or food. I have worked in addiction for 14 years and would like to help you achieve your goals whether it is abstinence or maintenance. The therapy is tailor made to your needs.

I am an open minded therapist so I do not shock easily. Sometimes we just need someone to listen and help us work through things. Sometimes we want more motivation. Whatever your goals are, I am here to help you get there. I'm just a click away.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
