About me

I am an integrative psychotherapist offering weekly counselling sessions in East London

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist. I offer psychotherapy in East London near Haggerston. The sessions involve attending weekly for fifty minutes at the same time each week. The first session is an opportunity for you to see if the space we provide together is one of safety, one which trust may grow and one in which you may feel comfortable in and listened to.

What brings someone to counselling

Many different things bring people to therapy, sometimes it is a specific life event such as bereavement, loss, the breakdown of a relationship, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, sometimes people are having trouble feeling happy or content, they are not getting what they need out of life, they feel stuck and do not feel like they have any choices. They may feel very troubled, unsafe and at risk. They may need a different perspective on their life. Sometimes you are a trainee psychotherapist requiring therapy during your training, I have been in this situation too and found therapy invaluable.

What is therapy?

I see therapy as an opportunity for someone to have support from someone who is more neutral than their family or their friends. Life may be very difficult and troublesome, I would ask you to attend a first session, where you would find someone who is curious and interested in your story, you would feel listened to. I am especially interested in how you relate to the people in your life and earlier relationships, and how easy or difficult these relationships are for you. It is a confidential space, the aim being, over the first few sessions, to co-create a therapeutic relationship, which will feel safe, non-judgemental and inspire trust, to help you explore the things you may want to improve, the life issues which you would like to explore or the pain you would like someone to witness and be strong enough to bear and to help with.

Goals and duration of counselling:

You can attend one session without compulsion to continue if you do not wish to, should you want to continue, we can work out together what your goals are and whether you would be interested in short-term work such as six to twelve sessions or if you require ongoing therapy,  reviewing how we are doing regularly.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications and Registration

I have a MSc in integrative psychotherapy with the Metanoia Institute and the University of Middlesex. I am registered with the UKCP. I am fully insured.

Experience and clients' presenting problems

I commenced psychotherapy training in 2007 and started seeing clients in 2008. I have seen clients in MCPS (Metanoia Counselling and Psychotherapy Service) where people presented with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, mental health issues, life issues around relationships, infertility amongst other life problems. Since 2009 I have seen clients in a bereavement service in East London, people attend with a recent or previous bereavement which is still causing them pain and complications. Many other life problems present whilst clients are being seen for their bereavement; relationship issues, work problems, current mental health issues, anxiety, depression, cultural problems, sexuality issues, low confidence, low self esteem, obsessive thoughts, repetitive patterns, amongst others.

Brief therapy versus more long term work

I have experience with working with clients in open ended work some of which lasted for many months to a couple of years and recently of brief therapy which compiled of seeing clients for up to 12 sessions.

My Practice

I have a private practice in Hackney E8; it is near Haggerston Overground Station.

Fees and cancellations

My standard fee is £60 for fifty minute sessions, you can attend the first session to see if the space may be one that is helpful to healing and for me to see if the problems may be ones that I can help with over time. I would ask for cancellations of 48 hours or more and sessions can be cancelled when clients or the therapist are on holidays.
