About me

Location: South East London, SE1 (Waterloo) & East London, EC1V (Angel)
I am a fully qualified person-centred  counsellor, graduated from an accredited course, as well as being a registered member of  the BACP and abide by their codes of ethics.

I offer warmth, empathy and a non-judgmental attitude which are the key components of my approach in counselling.  I can enable you  to explore your presenting issues which might currently bringing you to counselling. It is a collaborative process.

My approach is non-directive and client centred whereby you are in charge of your session which in itself can be enpowering. Thus, my role as a counsellor is to accompany you on that journey of self discovery, I am here to walk with you at your own pace.

From time to time, everyone experiences events which are stressful. In particular when stress makes us feel out of control, it can get increasingly difficult to see the wood for the trees. Counselling can give you a space to see things in perspective and help you to find balance.

I strongly believe in individual potential for change and growth. It is with this in mind that I will encourage you to come up with your own solutions to your behavioural and/or emotional difficulties.   In the process , counselling can help you to find the strength to overcome the difficulties and the feelings that accompany them.

What I offer
I can offer one-to-one, short to long term therapy tailored to individual's need in either English or French for the following:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • abuse, including FGM
  • bereavement & loss
  • low self-esteem
  • identity issues
  • gender identity
  • sexuality

Initial session
I offer an introductory session during which we will focus on exploring what brings you to counselling and what are your expectations, as well as some practical matters (ie
discussing of contract, confidentiality, fees, scheduling and cancellation of sessions).

The initial session will also give you the opportunity to ask further questions and ensure that the person-centred approach is suitable for your needs. And though the assessment is different from a counselling session, it still might give you a feel as to whether we can work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience in working with domestic violence charities and parent support groups, and more recently with Cruse, a bereavement and loss organisation. My journey began by offering phone support to Childline and the NSPCC, before I took a new path and moved into adult counselling. Recently, I have gone back to counselling children, on a face-to-face basis this time around.

Lewisham Counselling & Counsellors Training Associates – Higher Professional Diploma in Counselling, 2008 to 2011

Birkbeck University London - Degree in Psychology at obtained in 2000-2005

Currently, volunteering in a primary school, as Place2Be counsellor. Until recently, I have volunteered with Cruse, providing bereavement and loss counselling.

If words fail, working with imagery (ie photos, painting, metaphors) for clients who might initially find it more comfortable using these media as a way to express themselves is an option.

Fees

Initial session: £40
Thereafter, session cost: £60

Sessions' duration: 50 minutes, face to face

Fees: Payment is taken by cash or cheque at the start of each session, or in advance via PayPal

Whilst I will make every effort to adjust my schedule so that it works for you, if a session is cancelled within 72 hours of our appointment then the session fee will be due in full, as the closer it is the actual appointment and the more difficult it is to offer to another client, and it is at a cost for me as I pay a monthly fee for the room.
