About me

I use a variety of approaches in therapy sessions, based on what best suits each client. Some people prefer to stick to talking. With others I might suggest working through the body using movement and physicality or encourage artistic expression using art materials or drama exercises. Most sessions combine several modes at once.

I emphasise observing the specificity of individual experience, past and present, and using that as a springboard from which to initiate change and fulfill desires for the future.

Clients come to me for a variety of reasons, including:

  • depression and anxiety
  • processing trauma
  • family upheaval
  • breakdown in relationship between parents and children
  • navigating life changes
  • self-destructive and/or obsessive patterns of behaviour
  • existential questions

I also offer group and individual supervision to therapists, counsellors and others working in psychologically demanding situations.

In addition to my private practice, I work in schools with children and their families and teach on the MA Movement Studies course at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I have worked in public and private hospitals in the UK and Germany.

Areas of clinical and research interest include the connection between psychological and physical trauma, childhood depression and its impact on how adult depression manifests, family systems, the psychological significance of attachment to place, and the psychology of multicultural identity.
