About me

I am a BACP Registered Accredited counsellor with 23 years experience, and continue to feel very privileged to work with individuals, couples, children/young people, and counselling students through personal therapy and clinical supervision. My experience includes pioneering primary and secondary school counselling in Sussex, supervising trainee and qualified counsellors, working with further education students, within clinical settings and establishing a thriving private practice.

I never underestimate how important the first step is, and it is important to me that you feel secure and comfortable. For this reason I offer a FREE 30 minute initial meeting to discuss your needs, provide relevant information, for you to ask questions, and decide whether I’m the right therapist for you.

I have extensive experience in supporting people with personal trauma (including early years), relationship issues, family issues, loss and bereavement, depression (including post natal depression), generalized anxiety, identity issues, feeling sad/low mood, panic disorder, OCD, life transitions, separation and divorce, health issues, personal development, and self-confidence and esteem. In addition to my work with individual adults and couples, I have extensive experience in working with children, young people and families, with training in art and play therapy techniques, together with work with Looked After Children (LAC), and supervising the work of qualified therapists, and working therapeutically with Foster Parents, to support their relationships with children/young people in their care.

In addition to a FREE 30 minute initial meeting, I offer fee concessions to counselling students requiring personal therapy or clinical supervision.

My practice is informed by Mindfulness, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Systemic therapies, and DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) for children with relationship difficulties.

I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
