I'm aware that people generally access counselling in times of distress. Sometimes the nature of that distress is clear and can center around issues of Loss, Depression, Relationship Breakdown (couple, parental, sibling) sexual abuse and Self Harm. Occasionally the nature of the distress we experience may not be related to a specific issue, all we know is that everyday life has changed and it's a struggle to be part of it.
As a practitioner I appreciate the uniqueness of every individual and respect that people work at their own pace to achieve their realistic predetermined therapeutic outcomes. As an independent counsellor who has spent many years in private and organisational practice I'm aware that, in some cases, this can be done in a relatively short time and for others it may take longer.
Through my existing broad training I have gained extensive experience of working with clients of all ages with multiple concerns in a way that is flexible and adaptable to their specific requirements. Over the years I have developed a practice that offers long term psychotherapy, medium short term counselling and solution focused brief therapy. If you feel you would like to make an appointment I can be contacted either by email or by telephone using the number above. Should I be unable to take your call there is an answer machine which only I have access to so please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as I can.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Through my work with young people I have gained experience of working with the difficulties the transition from child to adolescent can bring and the effects this has on the parent child/adolescent relationship. For many young people this can be a time when they are trying to negotiate and manage different pressures such as friendships, school, exams and family distress whilst trying to form their own identity. This can be a difficult stage of development and some young people struggle to confide in and turn to family and friends for support. In such cases Counselling provides a space where young people can be heard and through the work access and develop their own coping strategies for the present and the future.
*Please note I do not offer online counselling to people under the age of 18.

Supervision & training
As an experienced online supervisor I see myself as being a support to the counsellor within a collaborative process where the space is used to reflect on what happens in the counselling room.
