About me
I am an experienced Person-Centred Counsellor accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor (United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I am also a qualified Person-Centred Supervisor.
As a Person-Centred counsellor, I believe that you have the answers that you need within you, but sometimes it can be difficult to access the answers or find the inner resources that are required to lead a fulfilled and balanced life.
I offer a non-judgemental, respectful and confidential environment where I can help you work through the particular areas of difficulty that you may experience.
I will not tell you what to do or give you advice but, together, we can journey towards a place where you feel more able to find your own way, drawing on your own resources and find an inner equilibrium and feel able to understand yourself better. With an increased understanding, you may feel able to make the changes you may want to make.
I would work with you in a non-judgemental way, respecting your autonomy, your values, your capacity for choice and your cultural context.
Sessions are confidential, which offers you the freedom to explore and talk about anything within legal limitations. Usually, a session lasts one hour and would often be weekly for as long as you find them helpful. Together, we can work out what would suit you best.
As an accredited member of the BACP, I am bound by its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and I hold a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling.
In addition, I have undergone training in many areas, including bereavement and loss, anxiety and depression, relationship counselling along many more.
I have worked in middle and secondary schools, youth agencies and for CRUSE Bereavement care.
Alongside my private practice, I am contracted by the NHS to provide counselling for its staff within the mental health sector of NHS in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
I am a Supervisor for trainee counsellors at ARC Counselling Service in Wokingham, as well as in my private practice, where I provide supervision for qualified and experienced therapists.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
