Hello, I'm Maria, a person centred counsellor, Offering face to face and online sessions. I offer a free initial session so we can chat through any worries you might have, discuss what you would like to cover in your sessions its also a chance for us to meet and for you to decide if you want to move forward with your counselling journey with me. I understand that starting therapy can be a really daunting experience and I am here to make you feel safe and supported throughout the process, All questions and enquiries are very welcome, no matter how silly you might worry they are, no questions are silly questions.
Why person centred?
Person centred counselling is about creating a space for you to feel heard, without judgement and fear of rejection. A space where you can feel free and safe enough to really explore how you feel. This is why I love this way of working because although these seem like simple things, in our lives day to day we are very rarely (if ever) met with unconditional love and acceptance from others. Without the fear of judgement as humans we really are able to sit and explore our past and emotions. I promise to hold the space for you to do this.
I won't offer advice but instead, will follow your story and be there empathically with you, to try and understand how it is for you in your experiences. I won't push you to talk about anything you don't feel able to, we work at your own pace.
After the last year and a half there are so many people struggling with anxiety and depression, if you are too, you are not alone and counselling can really help give you the tools and understanding move forward and cope.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
