M. Carolina Yepes
My name is Carolina Yepes, I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist qualified from the University of East London . I have over 15 years of experience as a therapist, working with the NHS and privately. I help people with a range of difficulties and have particular expertise working with adults suffering from complex and challenging problems. I practice in an integrative way using a variety of models and techniques.
My deep knowledge, expertise and experience of different models of therapy and techniques makes me able to adapt therapy to your particular situation and journey. I don't apply "one size fits all", as each individual is unique. I value and respect people and I will aim to understand you with a non-judgmental attitude.
When you chose a therapist/counsellor you need to feel comfortable and able to be yourself. My clients have often described me as "human"; apparently sometimes therapists forget the qualities that enable two humans to really connect: openess, warmth, genuiness. I'm also very caring and gentle in nature. I will do my best to create a comfortable and safe space for you, so that you can feel able to walk with me through a journey of self understanding and self development. I will guide and support you as you begin to make real and sustainable changes to your life.
I am caring, compassionate and very approachable. I believe people do things for very good reasons, even if those reasons do not seem clear or acceptable, and in doing so I bring a non-judgemental attitude. I truly value each person that has the courage to take steps to seek support to deal with difficulties, it isn't always easy

Together we will work towards gaining an understanding of your difficulties and finding ways to deal with them. Depending on your difficulties and your aims there are various models of therapy that can be of help. I will offer you an initial consultation and according to your specific goals, I can draw on relevant models and techniques to help you move towards your desired outcomes. For example:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): aims to change patterns of behaviour, thinking and feeling that lead to problems. It is a structured and effective type of therapy that can be short to long term depending on the objectives.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR): is a specialist therapy particularly recommended for the treatmtent of Traumas; however it is also very effective for other problems which may be linked to significant life events that have caused distress like anxiety, phobias, loss and bereavement.
Mindfulness Based Therapy: this aims to help you learnt ways to take a more relaxed attitude towards difficulties in life. It is particularly useful for stress, sleep problems and chronic issues like pain, anxiety and depression.
