Maria Blant, PCE - Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist MBACP (Accred).
Hello my name is Maria, I am a qualified and accredited Person-Centred Experiential & Integrative - Counsellor & Psychotherapist, providing therapy to Adults in the Nottingham/shire area privately and as a Primary Care Counsellor.
I am particularly experienced working with people with any type of loss leading to depression or grief, victims / survivors of domestic abuse (male & female), family and relationship problems, personality difficulties and those who have suffered childhood relational trauma, neglect and abuse leading to problems in adulthood.
I work relationally offering a warm, genuine, compassionate and non-judgemental (but sometimes challenging) human - human relationship. I believe a healthy therapeutic relationship can provide us with support to enhance our self-awareness, explore and make sense of our experiences, and have a better understanding of what we need; leading to personal growth.
Many people struggle with themselves, their relationships, feel up and down repeatedly, or never feel quite at peace but are unsure why. I believe it is important to find a good enough therapist who feels right for you and I will be honest about any limitations of service. I saw quite a few therapists before I found someone beneficial, for this reason I offer a free initial consultation (30mins).
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked within the NHS as a therapist for 7 years, currently as a Primary Care Mental Health Counsellor and prior to this a Wellbeing Practitioner. I also worked with victims of Domestic Abuse and trained GP's for Women's Aid and spent time supporting homeless families and younger people in hostels & refuges.
I am a qualified and accredited registered member of BACP and hold a degree in BSc (Hons) Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy completed at The Sherwood Institute, Nottingham.
I also have a PG Cert in Psychological Therapies and am due to start an IAPT qualification in Counselling for Depression (CfD).
I complete CPD in accordance with my BACP membership around my areas of interest: domestic abuse, complex PTSD, bereavement and end of life; in addition to specific training for interventions related to my clients.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
