About me

Thank you for reading my profile. I am Maria and live in Leigh on Sea. I bring more than 9 years’ experience in counselling children, adolescents and adults. I am also a qualified and practicing Supervisor. My counselling practice is based in Southend on Sea and is near to all public transport.

I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS) and a Registered member of the BACP. I follow both Societies code of ethics. Through personal experience I understand how challenging and sometimes, difficult, it can be to take the first steps into finding a counsellor.

I offer you a safe, modern and welcoming environment in Central Southend. We will be within a professional, confidential and non judgemental space. Where I will work with you to help you find ways to live your life in a more fulfilling, happy way. Counselling will give you the opportunity to explore and understand past and present issues. Whilst allowing you the time, space and support to make positive change.

I work by focusing on the client and working collaboratively and sometimes creatively in a safe and confidential environment. Somewhere where you will be heard and listened to without being judged. Where desired change, clarity, or a different way forward can be explored. Thank you for looking at my profile.

I work in a Person Centred Humanistic way but will also use a variety of skills and techniques to aid us in moving forward. I combine techniques from the following approaches to counselling;

  • CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy)
  • Psychodynamic
  • Humanistic
  • When working with young children I also use thera-play (such as toys, arts and crafts, games) to aid the child in expressing themselves.
