About me

ABOUT ME

Hello and thank you for looking at my profile.

I am an experienced and fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor working in Shoreditch (Five minute walk from Shoreditch High Street Overground and ten minutes from Old Street Station) I help clients from all walks of life with a diverse range of difficulties. I imagine that this is a particularly troubling time for you, and trying to decide who may be the right therapist for you in amongst your difficulties may be challenging. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, please do get in touch.

I provide a confidential, warm and non-judgemental space where together we will explore your difficulties to gain insight and understanding, promoting constructive change as we work towards you developing a fuller sense of who you are and what you require from yourself, your relationships and your life.

I consider all my clients as unique individuals –- My role is not to judge you or label you, rather, my role is to help you reach your full potential in all aspects of your life, working towards you living the life you desire. I do not offer advice or solutions, but something much more powerful –- Our work together creates an opportunity for you to find your own.

HOW I WORK

I work psychodynamically –- discovering with you how your individual history informs and influences how you think about yourself, your relationships and the world. By exploring and learning together how to understand unhelpful patterns of how you relate to yourself and others, we find inspiration and insight to promote healthy change.

I have experience of treating a wide range of difficulties –- from relationship problems and work stress to recovering from traumatic events and loss. Sometimes, it is not really anything specific my clients need my help with; they just feel unsettled within themselves and need help and navigation towards a calmer inner peace.

Our sessions will last for 50 minutes and take place on the same day and time each week. I can provide once or twice weekly sessions and offer either short-term or longer-term work depending on your specific requirements.

OTHER AREAS OF COUNSELLING I CAN HELP WITH

My training incorporated Organisational Dynamics, which I have a keen interest in. This allows me to provide you with a fresh outlook to navigate work difficulties. Often, problems with managers and senior colleagues stem from unprocessed, earlier wounds from parents, caregivers or authority figures. By making sense of this, and gaining clarity, unhelpful patterns of relating are avoided –- opening a creative space for healthy change in the workplace.

THE NEXT STEP

If you think you would like to work with me, do contact me by e-mail or telephone, I will respond to you as soon as I have an opportunity, this is usually within 24 hours. We will then have a brief conversation by telephone about your difficulties and if my approach would be beneficial for you. If we agree to go forward, we will schedule an assessment, this is a bit longer than a regular session, 1.5 hours.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
