About me

It can be difficult to know where to find help and what exactly is the right help for you? I understand this, and I understand that you may be battling with waiting lists, referrals or conflicting advice from friends or family about how to feel better.

I will listen without judgement and together we can work to plan your way out of the complications you find yourself in and help you get your life on track again.

I work as a Human Givens Practitioner which means that I am a member of the Human Givens Institute, accredited and regulated by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, the highest independent accreditation body in the UK.

The Human Givens approach to mental health and wellbeing uses the most effective psychotherapeutic techniques from a wide range of approaches, combining them into one highly effective and flexible 'tool box'.

Why “Human Givens” and what WILL we do?

  • This is a refreshing and effective approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing.
  • I will help you identify how your emotional needs are being met, and where there may be gaps.
  • We will work together to find ways to ensure you get your needs met in healthy balance.
Results are fast and effective in helping people back to a healthy psychological state.
  • I will select methods and techniques that are right for you
  • We will deal quickly and effectively with any relevant past trauma
  • We will access your strengths and resources to find ways to feel stable, cope better, build strength, make change and, ultimately, thrive.

What WON’T we do?

  • Attempt to dredge up real or imagined miserable memories from the past.
  • Set out on prolonged so-called voyages of “self-discovery”.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a lot of experience of working with people to support their development and am skilled in helping people overcome difficulties to lead fulfilling lives.

I am very happy to work as a Human Givens Practitioner as an incredibly refreshing approach to psychotherapy and mental health. I work as a volunteer with Rape Crisis Scotland in my spare time. A lot of my private referrals come from PTSD Resolution (UK based veterans charity) and Trusts looking after scholars, working with young people at university.

As a member of the Professional Body "Human Givens Institute", accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, I work under supervision and to a strict code of ethics.

I can help, if you are feeling the effects of:

  • PTSD/Trauma
  • Emotional Instability
  • Depression
  • Phobias
  • Self-Harm
  • Anxiety/Panic Attacks
  • OCD
  • Sexual Abuse/Assault
  • Addictions
  • Relationship issues

I hold professional insurance and an enhanced current DBS certificate for working with vulnerable people.

I work as a Human Givens Practitioner which means that I am a member of the Human Givens Institute, accredited and regulated by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, the highest independent accreditation body in the UK.

Further information

I facilitate a support group for women and non-binary people who have suffered trauma of any kind in their life.  This is a regular safe space where people can talk about their experiences past, present and hopes for the future without judgement, just being themselves.  This group operates on a drop in basis.  I very much enjoy working with people in this setting as, for some, this may be the only time they have voiced their experiences and to make connections with others who may understand them is a validating experience.

I volunteer with Rape Crisis Scotland.

I am an ally of the LGBT+ community and am very happy to work with people of all sexualities and gender identities.
