About me

If you’re reading this, maybe you’re feeling confused, or overwhelmed, or stuck, or just tired of things never changing. I’m there to give you a safe place to work through the issues, and find your way to a healthier, happier life.

Counselling can help you to:

  • manage or resolve stress, anxiety and overwhelm
  • recover from traumatic events, such as abuse
  • navigate difficult circumstances and decisions
  • develop a healthier lifestyle and relationships
  • cope with difficulties and setbacks such as work problems and relationship breakdown
  • address a range of mental and emotional health issues, from lack of confidence to persistent low mood to addiction

Through my experience in both community settings and private practice, I’ve had the privilege of helping a wide range of people — from struggling abuse victims to overwhelmed professionals. I’ve seen them make better sense of their circumstances and take better control of their lives.

In technical terms, I generally adopt an integrative approach, working from a person-centred core. What that means in practice is this: I work on the basis that — even if you don’t feel like it — you are the expert on your life, and you have the capacity to make it better. I don’t have all the answers, but, as we explore your life and circumstances together, you’ll start to discover them for yourself. You’ll find the strength to take charge of your life, cope better with setbacks, and make good decisions that work for you.

The CLEER Path

Develop the skills and confidence to respond to individuals in emotional distress

Does your organisation deal with people on a regular basis? Do you or your staff feel out of your depth when others open up to you about personal difficulties and problems?

You could be a law firm, a gym, a taxi business, a church or a beauty salon – but sometimes you feel like you need to be trained counsellors!

CLEER Path training will give you the skills and confidence to respond appropriately when you’re faced with an emotional client or you’re concerned for someone’s welfare.

You will learn:

  • How to listen and respond calmly and appropriately
  • What questions to ask in order to establish if the person needs emergency intervention or professional help
  • How to quickly connect the person with the help they need
  • How to set boundaries so that you are not being over-stretched or working beyond your ability

As well as enhancing your customer care skills, CLEER Path training will develop self-awareness and emotional intelligence that will benefit you in other personal and professional relationships.

The CLEER Path is presented by a professional counsellor. The training can be delivered in a 1-1 coaching format (around 2 hours) or to groups (4 hours - including refreshment break - for a group of 12 delegates). Costs will vary accordingly. All attendees will receive a training manual and a certificate.
