Marcia Haley, Psychotherapy & Counselling, Registered & Accredited MBACP
In my career of over 35 years, I have provided professional care and support to adults, children and young people within the NHS and voluntary sector and have worked for over 18 years as counsellor and psychotherapist.
In my work, I offer a compassionate and supportive relationship where you can talk about yourself, your life and anything you are finding painful, difficult or confusing. It is an opportunity to understand yourself and your difficulties and to consider changes that may improve your life, relationships and how you feel.
As part of my private practice I provide supervision and training supporting professionals in the helping professions.
I offer daytime and evening appointments. My practice is based in Thame, close to both Oxford and Aylesbury. Haddenham and Thame Parkway Station is a few minutes drive away and the 280 bus route stops nearby. There is free parking available.
Training, qualifications & experience
I initially worked as a Registered General Nurse, in both hospital and the community with adults and children. I moved from nursing to the voluntary sector where, alongside my work as a Psychotherapist and Counsellor, I have managed a counselling charity and co ordinated a youth project supporting vulnerable young women at risk of self harm.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
