About me
Hello and welcome!
I am Marcella Kimber, an experienced, fully qualified therapeutic counsellor registered with the BACP and trained as an energy healer through the Healing Trust. My niche is an integrative holistic approach, working intuitively with clients to provide support that looks at the whole person, not just their mental health needs. I trained as a person centred counsellor, which is what I offer but if a client would like to integrate into the session, energy healing, sound and sand box therapy, this is something that can be talked about or I could offer an energy healing session separate to counselling. The body, mind and soul are all connected, so looking at the whole person for answers, not just the physical body can really be restorative.
We all go through challenging times in our lives, which can cause intense anxiety and depression, leading to feelings of fear, sadness, loss, anger, and frustration. As a person centred counsellor, I will work with you to break down barriers or thinking patterns that cause disharmony, to hopefully find some answers to issues, restoring balance back into your life. This takes place by talking about presenting current problems, which helps to unravel difficult feelings being experienced to facilitate change and provide an ‘emotional resilience tool box’, to help move forward in life.
I bring my authentic self to counselling sessions, providing a calm, friendly, honest, safe, non-judgemental, intuitive, playful and loving environment to therapy, which I hope will be felt while having sessions. I will work with you face to face or online to help you find your true self again and work with uncomfortable feelings and behaviours, which are causing emotional discomfort in your life to help you feel rooted and connected again to everyday life.
I can help with anxiety, bereavement, depression, family-issues, relationships, self-esteem issues, stress at work/in life, women’s health issues, including menopause, infertility, chronic health conditions including endometriosis. I can offer short, long term counselling options and emotional balancing intensive therapy (working with you, as an empowerment guide on a daily basis, for 7-10 days providing a range of integrated modalities), which will be tailored to suit your needs to build on self-awareness, mindfulness, self-care, relationships, emotional resilience and purpose in life.
Training, qualifications & experience
While I was completing my counselling training, I was part of the counselling service at Gorton Monastery and counselled clients with a range of issues, including, grief, self-esteem, anxiety, depression and relationship issues. I also counselled primary school children with Place2Be for a year, which was play therapy counselling. I have an enhanced DBS certificate because I work with children. I am currently a volunteer counsellor with Ashgate Hospice, which is predominantly bereavement counselling and have almost been at Ashgate for 12 months. I feel extremely grateful to have been given the chance to work for these amazing charities and have gained valuable experience working with a diverse range of clients including adults and children.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
