About us

When you are worried about your child it is sometimes hard to know what to do. We are a small team of experienced play therapists who can help you work out a way forward - whether this is to help your child enjoy school or nursery more, come to terms with trauma, loss or separation, negotiate anxious feelings, find ways to live more comfortably in the world with neurodiversity, or develop skills in managing overwhelming feelings such as anger & aggression. We assess what is going on and advise what might help. After an assessment period, we may offer further play therapy sessions and can support children in their development and their emotional well-being. Throughout the process, we will include you in fine-tuning what will support your child best in the wider world around them.

Training, qualifications & experience

Our Play Therapists are registered with the British Association of Play Therapists and the Professional Standards Authority and are required to adhere to ethical practice guidance, continuing professional development and regular clinical supervision. Play Therapists must have worked in a profession working with children before they complete a post-graduate qualification in play therapy. Our therapists come from backgrounds such as teaching, residential care and nursing. Some have done additional training in Filial Therapy, Child & Parent Relationship Therapy and Animal-Assisted Play Therapy.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
