Mandy Stewart BSc(Hons), Psychotherapist, Counsellor
Hello and welcome, I would like to introduce myself and give you an insight into how I would work with you.
I was fortunate to train as a Person Centred Therapist over 22 years ago at Strathclyde University when Dave Mearns was the Director of the Counselling Unit and Mick Cooper was the lead in Research. Both are internationally recognised and their books will be on the shelves of many Counsellors.
As a Person Centred Therapist I offer unconditional positive regards, congruance and empathic understanding to my clients. In other words I will always accept and value you, be honest and transparent in how I perceive you and your world and try to walk in your shoes so that I can understand your experience.
While Person Centred therapy forms the the foundation of my therapy style I have built upon this with skills from other modalities, for example Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment Theory and Solution Focused Short Term Therapy.
I have been working online since March 2020 and undertaken appropriate training to meet the requirements of The BACP ( British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists)
My Specialist Areas of Work:
- Adults of all ages
- Young people of Secondary School age
- Couples with relationship difficulties trying to avoid separation or survive divorce
- Bereavement and Loss
- Attachment disorders
- Supervision for other Therapists
To make an appointment, you are more than welcome to phone me or send an email. I usually find by us having a chat on the phone, it helps you to feel a little more at ease before a first appointment. There is also no obligation to continue after a first appointment, so there is no pressure on you.
If you have any further questions about how I work or if I can help you, please do get in touch. I am unable to answer calls when with a client, so please do leave a message with the best time to contact you and I will call you back as soon as possible.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
