About me

Hi, I am an integrative counsellor, which in plain English that means, I use a variety of counselling methods and will use a mix of all to benefit your situation.

Life often throws up things that we don’t expect, testing our resilience and ability to overcome situations that are often not of our own making. Talking can be key in understanding your predicament and help you move forward. That old saying that a problem shared is a problem halved really is true. Talking about a problem with someone else usually makes it seem less daunting or troubling. As a counsellor I can offer you that safe, secure place to talk and help you find the right way for you.

It’s not just work that can cause stress/anxiety but everyday life, from family commitments, relationships, loss of a loved one and the never-ending daily juggle of roles and responsibilities in your life to name just a few. Sometimes it can just be totally overwhelming, you just need to take time out for yourself and talk through with someone who is not part of that situation. Talking really does help.

Training, qualifications & experience

As well as counsellor I am also a qualified NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner, I can offer access to different tools that will make you look at aspects in your life with a different perspective and therefore throw up solutions that you may never have initially thought of. For example, I can help you overcome fears and phobias such as heights, flying, spiders etc. Also, this type of model will also help boost your confidence, build new behaviours or dispel any limiting beliefs that you may have. Perhaps you have an important workshop to present or an interview to attend where you would like to release those nerves that stop the real you to shine through.

What happens in a counselling session?

Mainly talking, it really is that basic. We will talk through your situation to make sense of your feelings and why you are reacting in the way that you are. As an integrative counsellor I will bring in various tools to assist you to reach an outcome for you. If this is your first time in counselling or you would like to discuss your situation before you book a session, I am more than happy to answer your questions via email or by phone. It is important that you feel safe and secure when choosing your counsellor.

After our initial session you can then book weekly sessions if you wish, on a mutually suitable day and time.

Further information

A little about me

I have served in the armed forces and spent time in the emergency services in a support role. The transition to “civvie street” can be difficult as you come to terms with a completely different way of life, I certainly realised that.

I have worked within the Public and Private Sectors in middle management, so can fully understand the stresses and strains that work can bring and what impact it can have on your general wellbeing and those who are around you.

I am also a bereavement counsellor at a local hospice

How counselling can help

As a qualified NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner, I can offer access to different tools that will make you look at aspects in your life with a different perspective and therefore throw up solutions that you may never have initially thought of.

The key to successful counselling is the rapport and trust that is built up in the sessions. You can be assured that I will show you absolute positive regard in a safe and non-judgemental way. It is my wish that you feel totally at ease and secure in the knowledge that what is said in the session is confidential.
