Mandy McDermott MBACP reg. accred Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor, EMDR
Anxiety, relationship issues, depression, family issues, addictions, abuse, trauma etc: they can affect anyone at anytime, regardless of age or background. I offer a confidential counselling service by which we can explore, together, the difficult issues that are having a negative impact on your daily life.
It's true - the way we think, feel, and react will influence and affect our relationships - with our family, with friends, and even at work. Our relationships then affect how we feel about ourselves, and our place in the world.
All of this leads us to places in our lives where we feel: stuck, frustrated, angry, disconnected, unmotivated, sad, hurt, depressed, fragile, fearful, lost, broken, ashamed, unworthy, or just plain different than everybody else.
These feelings are very natural to human beings.
However, while we all have such feelings at one time or another, it is not good for our health if we continue to have such feelings for long periods of our life. Living with such feelings for long stretches of time often will have an important and negative impact on our lives. They can also have a similar negative impact on the lives of the people we love. Such feelings often keep us from operating at our fullest potential - and they may even make us harder to love.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an integrative therapist, working with children, young people and adults across Northern Ireland. I do not believe in the 'one size fits all' cliche', as each individual or group I work with, are unique in their own right.
I am the owner of AchieveNI Counselling and Training Agency and Director of Compass Counselling. Aside from providing counselling and supervision provision, we specialise in designing and facilitating training programmes to cross-community groups, men, women and students / staff members in schools throughout Northern Ireland.
I feel extremley proud and privileged to have been presented and honoured at 10 Downing Street by the Prime Minister as the national, overall recipient of 'Britain's Children's Champion Award'.

Your journey towards healing begins here.....
I have completed my training in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy) which I now incorporate into my work if appropriate with suitable clients. This type of therapy is quite focused and targeted. In my experience when using EMDR, it has been successful to help move the therapeutic processing forward quickly - depending on the issue and most importantly the clients engagement.
As a Senior Master Instructor in Pure Krav Maga Self Defense, this has allowed students to benefit from learning and developing life saving skills whilst confidence building. At Pure Krav maga Mallusk / Belfast our Instructors have been trained and certified directly by World's Top Expert in Krav Maga Mr Boaz Aviram. We teach at ReForm Health & Performance Unit, Mallusk. @PureKravMagaMallusk
