Mandy Hunt Reg. MBACP Individual and Relationship Therapy, Walk & Talk Therapy
Hello, my name is Mandy. I am a professional, experienced therapist with over 25 years of experience of working with people who have experienced a variety of complex and differing needs.
I have worked for various organisations as a therapist, and set up my private practice over 18 years ago. I continue to provide confidential, professional counselling and therapy to individuals, couples and various organisations.
I offer Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy, Relationship/ Couple Counselling, Palliative Care Counselling as well as telephone and video counselling.
For some people, taking the first step into arranging to meet a therapist, is the most daunting. I can sometimes offer a same day appointment.
How can I help?
I have a passion for helping people achieve their full potential. Sometimes we get stuck in old behaviours and thinking patterns, this can cause us to feel unable to manage some areas in our lives. Therapy gives people the time and space to recognise this and find ways of changing their own relationship with themselves and others.
I use Transactional Analysis alongside other approaches as I feel this is a helpful theoretical approach that gives people a clearer understanding of themselves and others.
I'm not a therapist who wants to keep somebody in therapy for many years, becoming dependant on the therapeutic relationship. I'm a therapist who encourages people to believe in themselves and develop their own inner therapist that enables them to live the life they choose.
I am a therapist who will converse with you, rather than only repeating back to you what you have said. I believe the relationship in the room is between two people, you know your ‘inside story’ and you choose what you share with me. I use more of a psycho educational approach. I also feel humour and laughter is important in the therapeutic relationship.
If you know you need to explore something in your life, then please don’t hesitate to contact me for an informal discussion and we can find out if counselling is right for you. I look forward to working with you.
Thank you for reading.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
