About me

There are many reasons why people seek out therapy, and the initial step can often feel a bit daunting. Welcome, and well done for taking the first steps towards getting some support.

I practice predominantly from an integrative psychodynamic and relational framework. This perspective acknowledges that we are dynamic and complex individuals, each with a unique story that has contributed to who and how we are. As part of your therapy process we may explore the link between the past and the present, and work towards understanding how certain significant relationships and experiences have contributed to patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that may be hindering you. While these patterns are often unconscious, they can be responsible for maintaining intense or overwhelming feelings, a sense of ‘stuckness’, self-destructive tendencies or habits, as well as physical and/or psychological symptoms that affect the quality of your life. Therapy is an invitation to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, develop more meaningful and fulfilling relationships, and discover new ways of coping that serve you better.

My areas of interest are broad; this is because I am interested in you as a person and I firmly believe that your diagnosis or particular presenting problem does not define you. Your symptoms, whatever they may be, are likely an expression of some kind of pain or hurt, rooted in both your lived experiences and biological make-up. The particular areas I have more experience in are as follows:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Complex and transgenerational trauma
  • Adjustment difficulties and life transitions
  • Feelings of guilt and shame
  • Food and body image issues
  • Medically unexplained physical symptoms
  • Neurodiversity
  • Chronic illness and pain
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Questions around identity and sense of self
  • Everyday life/work stressors and burnout
  • Relationship stressors and changes (as part of an individual therapy process)

There may be specific difficulties or symptoms that have brought you into therapy; however, I also believe that therapy can be an opportunity to engage in a process of personal growth and self-discovery – you do not have to be struggling with something in particular in order to benefit from therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Psychological Society (BPS). I trained in South Africa before moving to the UK, and I have experience in working across different mental healthcare settings. I offer short and long-term therapy to adult individuals (aged 18 years and older) both in-person and online, and on an open-ended basis. My therapeutic stance is accepting, inclusive, and supportive – I provide equal care to all clients, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, physical ability or attributes, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
