About me

Hello, I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor, working in weekly 50 minute sessions to provide a safe space for you to explore whatever you feel you need in order to shift and change feelings, behaviours and patterns. I am a fully qualified counsellor and a member of BACP (the counselling governing body) which means I pass the requirements to work professionally as a counsellor, ensuring you are seeing someone qualified, fully trained and who works to an expected professional standard.

My Approach:

I hope to create a safe, non-judgemental space in which you can speak openly with all your thoughts and feelings being contained.

My approach is to help you unearth a better understanding of yourself and the situations you are in; to better understand why you may feel the way you feel and to enable you to grow with that new found understanding.

Psychodynamic counselling explores how our childhood and early life relationships leave an imprint on our behaviour and feelings in the present. I work with you to explore what it is going on both in the present and what occurred in your past.

What can I expect?

Counselling is not advice giving. My role is to be actively listening, noticing and asking the right questions to unlock your conscious and unconscious ways of thinking and patterns of being, and how you therefore relate to yourself and others. Working together to get closer to a sense of your true self by understanding your past in the present.

Sessions last 50 minutes and they are lead by you and what you want to talk about in that session.

My experience:

I have worked with a real variety of people and range of issues faced by individuals these have included, but are not extensively - anxiety, depression, family disputes, bereavement, life changing diagnosis, obsessional personality, disordered eating, self esteem, work place issues.

What is an End of Life Conversation Facilitator?

Prior to my counselling training, I trained as an End of Life Doula. I use this combined knowledge and experience to go into homes and facilitate conversation. This may be in a variety of ways, it may be solely with the dying person who may be finding it difficult to express all of their feelings to their loved ones. It may be to help start conversations between the terminally ill and their loved ones. This service is bespoke and will adapt with your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Group Facilitator for Breast Cancer Now's Living with Secondary Breast Cancer.
  • Foundation Certificate, End of Life Doula. Living Well Dying Well.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
