(BACP reg. Counsellor)

About me

Hi there! I am Maisie, a BACP registered counsellor with 12 years of experience across a range of settings. I offer genuine warmth, non-judgemental compassion, a sense of humour when needed, and I will always be authentic with you, in the hope you feel you can be with me too.

For the last 9 years I have mostly been working with children / young people and families for a non-emergency CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health) service, using a combination of talking, play and creative therapy approaches. I also work with adults and couples, and my core training is in person centred counselling with adults. A key part of my therapy approach is a belief in everyone's ability to find their own answers with the right support.

I have special interests in developmental trauma and the patterns that we can sometimes feel stuck with - things that once protected us and helped us survive, but that can also contribute to our current pain. I bring this understanding and reflection into my counselling work, whether in individual therapy, through work with children, young people and their families, or couples/ romantic relationships.

I am currently offering online work with teens, adults and couples. I do have some current capacity to discuss whether I am able to work with you and your child face to face. I may also have capacity for some face to face adult/couples work in the near future. I am happy to have a no-obligation 15 minute chat to discuss your needs, and whether I can help.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
