Mair Felix. Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy.
What I offer.
Hello, my name is Mair. Welcome to my counselling directory profile. Beginning therapy can cause some anxiety so I aim to make our initial contact as straight forward and supportive as possible. I offer a comfortable private and confidential therapy room. I listen attentively, which provides a space for sharing whatever issues may be of concern to you.
Sometimes it can be hard to talk to friends and family about our issues. I offer a supportive and professional relationship, that can provide a fresh and compassionate way of seeing ourselves. Often saying things allowed for the first time can be a surprise and a relief, as well as developing our understanding of our own emotional landscape. This can help raise our personal awareness and through this help to promote change.
Everyone is unique and your experience and worldview is where we begin together. Some people will know they want, short term work to focus on a particular issue that is causing some difficulty in the present. This could be depression, redundancy, issues at work, children leaving home, retirement, difficulties in a relationship etc. Other people may need long term work to explore issues that stem from childhood and continue to impact them in the present. Some areas that I have experience of working with are:
- Physical or sexual abuse.
- Domestic abuse and violence.
- Suicidal feelings.
- Exploring Sexuality.
- Bereavement and loss.
However sometimes things are not so clear. We may feel unhappy and come to therapy unsure of what we want or need. I offer a supportive and nurturing environment where issues can emerge and we can focus on them together.
I am experienced at working with people as a counsellor, psychotherapist and in the past as a social worker and community worker. I have regular clinical supervision to enable me to work both effectively and ethically, as I adhere to UKCP ethical guidelines.

Discussing money is often difficult and I acknowledge that therapy can be costly. I am committed to ensuring that we review our work on a regular basis so that you make firm choices about the length of time we work together.
I charge £20 for the initial session. If you decided to work with me – I have a sliding scale between £35 - £45 which we will discuss at our first session.
My current therapy room is not disabled accessible as it is located on the first floor of an old converted warehouse in Sowerby Bridge. If you need a disabled access venue I would be happy to look at alternative premises where we could meet.
I look forward to meeting you.
