About me

I am a highly qualified psychotherapist, with over 20 years experience working in both private practice and the NHS. For additional information on my experience see: www.chiswicktherapy.com

My private practice is based in Chiswick, West London. Former Principal and Senior Adult Psychotherapist in the NHS, from 2006-June 2021.

I have experience offering therapy, counselling and analysis to individuals with a great range of issues, with some of the most common listed below:

  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Panic
  • Relationships
  • Sexuality and bodies
  • Work issues

Additional information on the services I offer can be found on my website: www.chiswicktherapy.com

Approach:

My approach is centred on the psychodynamic model, which holds that our earliest relationships and circumstances exert a great influence on our present ways of behaving, thinking and feeling, and that we are largely unaware of this. Research findings, including from related fields such as neuroscience and attachment theory, increasingly appear to support this.

Becoming aware of one’s own personal and typical patterns as they emerge in the relationship with the therapist leads to an increase in self knowledge and understanding, and the gaining of important emotional as well as intellectual insight. This can enable a person to feel more in control of their life and more able to make positive changes.

Additional information on my approach can be found at my website: www.chiswicktherapy.com

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience:

I have over 20 years experience working in both private practice and the NHS with individuals across a range of issues. I also have significant experience supervising and tutoring qualified and trainee psychotherapists.

I completed my initial professional training as a psychodynamic counsellor in 1997, at WPF Therapy, one of the most highly respected and widely recognised training bodies in the UK.

I then undertook further intensive analytic training as a member of the Society of Analytical Psychology (SAP), a leading training institute in Jungian analysis and psychotherapy.

During my career I have also undertaken additional training in time-limited and solution focused therapy, as well as Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) through my work in the NHS.

Qualifications:

I am a full member of:

  • The Society of Analytical Psychology (SAP)
  • The Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy section of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC)
  • The Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the NHS (APP)

I am registered with:

  • The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)
  • CIC/Confidential Care, an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider

In addition, I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Education. Past member of BACP & UKCP.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Psychoanalytic Council
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees

Additional information

  • Initial consultation: £70 per session
  • On-going therapy: £70 per session (see below)

The initial consultation is designed to provide the time and space to consider the reasons for seeking therapy and to get a sense of whether this way of working is likely to be helpful to you.

If the decision is made to continue, arrangements for ongoing therapy can then be made. This takes place once weekly (or more frequently) at a mutually agreed time and day.

Should you decide not to continue, I can discuss and recommend what sort of help may be more suitable for you.

All sessions last 50 minutes.

Fees may be negotiable depending on personal circumstances.
