About me

Hi I'm Lynsey.  Firstly, thank you for taking the first step in checking out the website and viewing my profile.

Counselling provides the opportunity to have a qualified therapist, assist and support you through difficult times.

I am a fully trained and qualified Professional Integrative Accredited Counsellor, having studied Humanistic, CBT and Psychodynamics.  I use these therapies from an integrative perspective and adapt them to best suit your  needs.

After gaining experience in the voluntary sector, I have worked privately with individuals, couples, and family members for the past number of years, supporting NHS clients as well as a variety of private clients, assisting them in dealing with low mood, sexual abuse, anxiety, work related issues (HR experience), depression, grief, bereavement (training completed by CRUSE bereavement care), family and marital troubles, etc.

I also offer support to teens and young people and have experience of working in schools and EOTAS.  I can also provide support to couples and families who have disagreements and need guidance to reaching an agreement.

I provide a safe environment and offer respect and confidentiality, where clients can freely explore and express their fears and concerns.

I am a wife, mum, daughter and I understand how life can get on top of us.  In these busy and unprecedented times, we can get stressed by trying to cope, or feel overwhelmed and down when we can't cope. I'm here to support - not to judge.  Please remember, it OK not be OK - it's good to talk.

My rates are very reasonable as I understand the need for every penny in these challenging times. I offer discount to students, including Counselling students.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists).  I work by following their Code of Ethics, with the wellbeing of my client being priority.

I have a private practice in the Knocklynn area of Coleraine and can be contacted by mobile 07511 372787 or email me lynsey_mcneill@hotmail.com.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
